the exchange - a group that works with local partners to celebrate and build on Erith's history of culture and production - are offering an exciting artist opportunity. They are providing £8000 to commission a public artwork to transform London’s longest pier into a piece of art for the period of Totally Thames for three weeks in September. They are looking for artists, designers, architects, performers, curators, and other creatives to propose an ambitious contemporary arts installation that will shine a spotlight on one of Erith’s greatest assets.

This is a fantastic opportunity to develop a site-specific work based on Erith Pier. The £8000 budget is to include all artistic, operational, installation and logistical costs of the work.
This commission will be part of a wider project to redefine the pier as a public arts space and inspire cultural activity and engagement in the arts. It will coincide with the Erith Lighthouse Project, part of Bexley's Greater Erith Programme which is London Mayor funded.
Deadline for submissions: Friday 14 July 2017
