Barge-Driving races 2011

1 – 1.40pm Steve Faldo Memorial Barge-Driving Race (Tower Bridge to Westminster Bridge)           2.30 – 3pm  Newcomers Race (Waterloo Bridge to Tower Bridge)

The barge-driving races enact the way Thames Watermen skilfully manoeuvred their barges on the Thames in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
Modern-day Watermen and Lightermen compete in the main race, while the Newcomers' Race is for friends, family and apprentices.

I was at Tower Bridge from 1430 to 1530 yesterday - I didn’t see any barges! What happened? Couldn’t website have been updated if event was cancelled. I’d made a special trip into town to see the barges.
